Hello,
Does anyone knows if a version of Capella VPMS add-on compatible with Capella 7.0 is in the works ? I tried to install capella-vpms 0.19 on Capella 7.0, but I can’t restart Capella after the installation.

We are looking into it - may take a month or so to get an answer.

Hi everyone,

To our knowledge, there is currently no plan for releasing a VPMS version compatible with Capella 7.x. VPMS was developed by another entity within Thales (not the Capella development team), and we are not aware of their roadmap for this add-on. This may change in the future, but at this stage there is no plan we know.

From Obeo’s side, we could take on this update, but it comes with a non-negligible cost. We cannot maintain all add-ons that are developed and published as open source without support. That said, we would be open to updating VPMS to Capella 7.x if funding is available.

We estimate the effort at around 15 days of work, which would include:

  • Updating the target platform and ensuring the code compiles on Capella 7.x

  • Updating the build scripts to run in our (and Eclipse’s) environment

  • Adapting the code to work in a CDO native environment

  • Fixing known issues (e.g., problems with rotating images)

  • Performing a minimal level of verification and validation to confirm the add-on works

The goal would also be to streamline future updates, making it easier to keep VPMS aligned with new Capella releases.
