[OES] Execution Consolidation

Hi everyone,

I’m still a bit new to Capella and MBSE in general, so this question may be somewhat basic. I’m trying to make operational entity scenario diagrams to visualize the time characteristics of an operational process. However, whenever multiple interactions lead into the same activity, there are two overlapping execution bars created for the single activity (see attached image from Help Contents). This implies that there is a sub-activity being executed within an overarching activity, which is not what I want to communicate. Is there a way to consolidate these execution bars such that multiple interactions can lead into a single bar? If not, how can I make sure my diagrams can be correctly interpreted?

Thank you,
Karley

Hi @KarleyB,

I realize that the way that Capella presents this makes it appear like these are sub-activities. However, what is it really showing is that the OE is active on that timeline because there are Functional Flows from one OA to another and therefore these OAs are related, because one stimulated the other and both are conducted by the same OE.

You can however still show durations of any of these “execution bars” independently. To make this more understandable it would be helpful to show the actual OA being executed and the Functional Exchange that initiated it using a Sequence Message.

Hope this helps.
