Functional Chain relation to Modes and States

Dear Capella Community,

Is there any way by which modes and states could be linked to functional chains?

I would be looking for the functionality of expressing the functions involved in certain modes and the difference between, for example, the nominal and degraded modes. I believe this could be easily assessed by a functional chain, but is it there any way to do it?
