Capella Queries

Hello People,

I have a ReqIF file created and also have requirements viewpoint installed, capella version is 7.0.1, I can see the install details showing the requirements plugin successful, I have also referenced my model in the requirements VP, i can see the capella requirements tab but not able to import anything in? No import option the + sign is greyed out. The only things I see is name, verison, description, parent viewpoint, etc. How can i fix this?

2)if not how can I create requirements in the tool and link it which layer to do it, I guess sytem level but then for subsystem can i pull the requirements in logical layer?

3)OA - We show enities and activities
SA- one of these enitites become our main system of interest and other entities becomes the actor, now when realising things how does the two diagram differ basically the name and context changes but then you basically repeat things in differnet way? How is this useful in real world.

4)LA you divide your main SOI in sub components and give all the detailed functions and their exchanges and also the components exchanges, is this the only significance and then correlate everything to above layers?
5) How can this be in anyway useful to replicate real world design, Can someone explain, apart from visual/graphical representation, what real purpose does it serve? Because we do everything manually and just realise the functionalities layer to layer.

Hi,
to import requirements you need to select an architecture (OA, SA, LA, PA or EPBS), right click and select Requirement Viewpoint

Take into account that if you need to trace requirements to Capella model elements, you will be able to trace only requirements contained in modules stored in current or previous architecture layers.

In other words, if you store requirement modules in the Logical Architecture you will be able to trace elements contained in OA, SA and LA, but not in PA.

Thanks for the response.

  1. Can I use the functional exchange from one layer to next? Where the required signal capability is same?
  2. If I use exchanges independently in every layer and name it in correspondence to the previous layers, this will just be a naming convention, though we realise the links from previous layers?
Right way to do it? Or am I doing it wrong?
  3. Can I create test cases and link it to requirements without plugins?
